The Transit Development Plan has the potential to reshape public transportation in Allegheny County and its success will depend greatly on public input. With that in mind, a number of public input opportunities have been created to provide you with an opportunity to weigh in on the future of public transportation.
- Riders, non-riders, Port Authority employees and the general public are invited to take our online survey to better provide input, feedback and ideas.
- An email distribution list will keep any interested party up-to-date on the progress of the Transit Development Plan, important dates to remember, public input dates and locations, and new happenings. Sign up for updates here.
- Two rounds of regional meetings for public officials and members of the general public will be offered in six locations throughout the county in late spring or summer of 2008. Stay tuned for further details regarding where and when the meetings will be held.
- The first round will provide information about the transit development plan and offer decision-making workshops that explore balancing transit trade-offs.
- The second round will present the recommended transit plan and ask for feedback.
- In addition to the above opportunities for public input, a Transit Development Plan (TDP) Advisory Committee comprised of 15-20 members will guide the overall planning process by providing input and feedback to the Port Authority and its consulting team and keeping external stakeholders informed.

If you would like someone from the Port Authority’s new community outreach program, Community Connections, to speak with your neighborhood, civic or business group about the Transit Development Plan or other public transportation topics. Community Connections serves as a communications forum between you, your organization and Port Authority. Our Community Connections team is available to speak at your next town meeting, church social or company event. In addition to preparing a presentation, our staff would like members of your organizations to tell us your thoughts about the Port Authority. How are we doing? What would you like to see us do? How can we improve in the future? Help steer Port Authority into the future. Schedule a meeting with us today. Call 412 566-5284.
- Transit Development Plan Community Input Meetings – Tell us where to go!
- This summer, the Port Authority is making a concerted effort to reach out to as many people in as many areas of Allegheny County as possible. Through meetings with community groups and our “Tell Us Where to Go” bus, we are crisscrossing the county, to present the Transit Development Plan and hear ideas from riders and non-riders alike on making Port Authority’s existing service more effective.
If your community or business organization has an interest in the Transit Development Plan, let the Port Authority arrange a Community Input Meeting so you can tell us where you need to go! These meetings will give you the opportunity to tell us what is most important to you in public transportation and how we can best meet your needs.
Also, if you see Port Authority’s “Tell Us Where To Go” bus parked at a community event, shopping center or any other neighborhood gathering, stop in to learn more about the TDP and tell us where you need transit to take you—now and in the future.
We want to hear from you! Please contact Peter Behrman at 1-866-583-0837 to set up a Community Input Meeting today!
